  The Basics

A PowerXMS server runs the Virtuozzo virtualization technology in Linux servers or the Microsoft Virtual Server technology in Windows servers. This allows for easy upgrades and for simplified server management and even remote access to do reboots in real-time on your server.

Your virtual enviornment runs on the server and is given the full resources of the machine. If necessary for an extra fee, you can even add multiple VPS to your server and decide how you would like your resources split among your virtiual enviornments.

  Setup Timeline

All of our PowerXMS servers are built-to-order. It takes approximately one week from the time payment is received typically before your server is ready to go. During this process, the following steps occur:

• The hardware is ordered and overnighted to the datacenter.
• The hardware is assembled.
• The hardware is stress tested to ensure there are no issues such as bad ram or poor performance from the hard drives.
• The operating system and virtualization technology is installed.
• We migrate your VPS to the new XMS server.

The great part of the virtualization technology is that there is no need to wait. Once your order is approved by our verification team, we will either build a new VPS or migrate your existing VPS with the full resources promised on one of our special temporary hardware nodes that have at least the same specs or better than your regular server. You will be able to utilize the extra resources on this temporary location until your permanent server is provisioned.

Once it is ready, our engineering team will use Virtuozzo's live migrate technology to migrate your server to the permanent location with no downtime!

  Backups

We retain 14 days of off-server backups stored on our special backup cluster. These backups are included an automated free value-add service.

As with any automated technology however, the integrity of these backups cannot be manually checked daily. If your data is mission critical for you, we also encourage you to keep your own backups as well. While our backups are generally reliable, we cannot be held responsible for backing up your data.
